Each cage has different benefits.  Many cages are animal-specific.  With the plethora of options available, how do you pick the right cage for your small animal?  Below is a brief introduction into picking a cage that will last for your small animal.

  • It is best to choose a cage that fits your small animal’s adult size and activity level. For smaller animals like hamsters, gerbils, and mice, a secure and chew proof habitat is a must! Glass tanks, critter trails, and wire cages are ideal for them.
  • For rats, chinchillas, and ferrets, multi level cages are the way to go! These animals love to climb and explore and need plenty of room to roam around. Just be sure that the spaces between the bars of the cage are not big enough for the animal to squeeze out!
  • Rabbits and guinea pigs prefer large, one level cages so that they have room to hide or graze as they see fit. But remember, if you are in doubt of your animal’s needs, feel free to ask a Pet World Warehouse Outlet associate for recommendations.

Make sure a cage is specifically for your small animal and it should meet the above requirements.  If you don’t know what you are looking for, it’s best to contact someone who has the knowledge to help assist with your small animal cage needs.
